NON-TOLERATION

God does not tolerate sin. Sin is disobedience to God. It can also be called rebellion against God. Many examples of sin are found in the Bible. This list includes some of the major examples of God’s non-tolerance of sin.

Adam and Eve place under a curse and barred from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:17-24)

Cain cursed to become a restless wanderer (Genesis 4:10)

Mankind and all created things destroyed in the Great Flood. Only Noah, his family, and the birds and animals aboard the Ark remain alive. (Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-10)

Tower of Babel destroyed, language confused and, people scattered. (Genesis 11:3-9)

Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed (Genesis 18:20-21; 19:15, 27-28)

Lot’s wife becomes a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:15-17, 26)

Plagues in Egypt (Exodus 7:1-5)

Plague against Israel (Numbers 25:1-9)

Israel destroys the inhabitants of the Promised Land (Genesis 15:13-16, Exodus 34:11-16) [The Moabite women seduced Israelite men and led them into Baal worship. God destroys all the inhabitants of the land so Israel would not be lead into their sins. Israel failed to obey, was tempted, and follow the gods of the land.]

Israel overrun by enemies. (Judges)

Judah and Israel punished (II Kings 17:1-23; 21:1-18; 23:26 see also the books of the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel. Daniel esp. 9:4-19, and the minor prophets)

Wicked have no place in the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:9-10)

Those whose names are not found in the “book of life.” (Revelation 20:12-15)
